First Care Medical Clinic did not begin like a clinic in the United States. In fact, this clinic was serving many patients before they had even opened its doors! What would later be a humble clinic in the middle of Bulaga started off as a medical outreach in Masaka.
In the midst of the revival in Masaka, Pastor Mark Kitende put his medicinal practices to use. He devoted his time to giving free medical care to people who could not afford it in Masaka. As the ministry in Masaka became more and more stabilized, Pastor Mark felt led to Bulaga to begin ministry in that area. It was there that First Care Medical Clinic was born.
Medical outreach was needed so badly there that Pastor Mark needed to bring in more people. In the process of bringing in more people, he needed more equipment for treating the patients. This led to him needing a building.
First Care Medical Clinic was officially established in May, 2013. Before they began to practice in the building, Pastor Mark opened the building up to Christian university students. They began to conduct outreaches around the area, praying for healing and revival in the area. (Praying themselves out of medical work.) The building became a place to host medical missionaries or students who had a heart for people, and God.
And Now?
First Care Medical Clinic is currently functioning as a 24/7 medical clinic with 3 live-in medical staff and a few nurses.
This is a place where local people can find medical treatment including but not limited to: emergency care, general medical care, dental care, maternity care, and laboratory services. The heart of the clinic is still for the people… that being said, the local people pay what they can. Many cannot pay for the services they need, and so there is grace for them.
The clinic is hoping to expand their facilities so they can better serve the people of Bulaga. The current plans for this building is to have a well equipped labor ward, a full fledged theater for c-sections and surgeries, an emergency room for the many unfortunate accidents from dangerous traffic patterns, a better lab, and a full dental unit.
We are excited to see how God continues to bless this clinic and minister to people through his love and healing!
